Master Class – Researching for Publication: Oliva Sabuco

This is a Master Class workshop for advanced students who are interested in the history of women philosophers and who have a desire to learn how to research and write for academic publication. The Master Class meets Friday afternoon, 14 October 14:30-17:30 and Saturday, 15 October, 10:00-13:00. Please note, Friday, 14 October, 14:30-17:30 is a joint meeting with the Seminar Women Philosophers of Antiquity in room W4.208.
The general scope is the history of philosophy, but our focus will be on philosophy during the 16th and 17th centuries. We will use as our example, the Spanish woman philosopher Oliva Sabuco de Nantes Barerra. Students’ individual research and writing project will be on a different woman philosopher of that period (16th-17th centuries). Prof Dr Waithe will provide a list from which to propose the focus of your paper.
The aim is to produce research papers that meet the highest standards of academic publishing. If the papers are exceptional, there is the possibility to publish the papers in Women Philosophers of the Early Renaissance, edited by Mary Ellen Waithe.

Registration is open now. All interested parties are welcome to these seminars, that includes students from other departments or universities. A certificate can be acquired. Participation is free of expanses. Transport and lodgings have to be organized individually by the attendees.
